How we count pre-orders

BrickLink doesn't publish order counts, but each series page carries two figures per set: the share of its production cap that has been ordered, and where the 3,000-order funding threshold sits on that scale. The cap is 3,000 divided by the second figure (30,000 by default, more when BrickLink raises it), and orders are the first figure times the cap. These are estimates from BrickLink's own page, not official LEGO numbers; final production can come in slightly lower after cancelled orders. While a series is open, we record the figures every 10 minutes.

BrickLink Designer Program FAQ

What is the BrickLink Designer Program?

It's LEGO's crowdfunding program for fan designs, run on BrickLink (the LEGO-owned marketplace). Fans submit models, the community votes, and LEGO picks five finalists per series. Each finalist is then sold once, as a pre-order during a short window: LEGO produces exactly the sets ordered, up to a cap, and never makes them again.

How many of each BrickLink Designer Program set are made?

Each set is guaranteed up to 30,000 copies. BrickLink can raise a popular set to as many as 50,000 by moving production capacity from weaker sets of the same series, and has done so in most recent series. In the 9 series that have closed, sets sold between 8,167 (Lost City, Series 3) and 49,084 (Adventure in Transylvania, Series 5); 12 of 45 sold out.

Are BrickLink Designer Program sets ever re-released?

No. BrickLink says it has no plans to produce a Designer Program set again: what's ordered during the pre-order window is the whole production run. Once a series closes, new copies are only available from resellers.

How do you buy a BrickLink Designer Program set?

During a series' pre-order window, from BrickLink's Designer Program page (checkout happens on LEGO.com). You're charged only when the set ships, a few months later, and each household can order at most two of each set. After the window closes, you can only buy from resellers, mainly on BrickLink and eBay.

Are BrickLink Designer Program sets a good investment?

So far, mostly yes, but not all. Of the 35 shipped sets with at least 5 recent BrickLink sales, 35 sell above their pre-order price today (new, median of the last 6 months), and the typical set is 36% above its price. The biggest gain: Mushroom House, worth 78% more than it cost. Sets that sold out early tend to do best; the slowest sellers can trade below their price.

When is the next BrickLink Designer Program series?

Series 10 pre-orders are scheduled to open on February 1, 2027, and Series 11 on June 1, 2027, according to BrickLink's schedule (dates can move). The finalists are already known: see the Series 10 page.

Which BrickLink Designer Program set sold the most?

Adventure in Transylvania (Series 5), with 49,084 pre-orders, the most of any series so far.
